Ulf Schabacker, Captain

Ulf was born and raised in East Germany, before he moved to Munich where he studied Hotel/Catering Management and continued with Sport and Tourism Management. His love for the water started in his early years when he spent all summers at the German beaches, where he also got his first introduction in to sailing. After spending several years working in hotel and restaurant management in the German based 5 star Hotels Maritim, Arabella Munich and the well known Relais Chateaux “Hambleton Hall” in Rutland Waters, England, his urge of exploring the seas led him to a maritime academy in England. He started delivering sail boats from anywhere in Europe until he got hired as a mate on his first Motor Yacht.  Within one year he was offered his first position as captain. Over the course of his 15 years experience in the industry, Ulf has overseen 5 new build projects, several extensive refits and captained private and charter yachts in the most popular and also less known areas of the oceans.

 As the master, Ulf’s primary focus is to ensure the safety of the guests, crew and the vessel. His duties range from navigation to accounting, planning and managing charters to the overall management of the yacht and the crew. He encourages all departments to work as a team to ensure that each charter will be a rewarding experience. He is operating “Sunshine” with the right balance between a formal and a casual ambiance which is desired by all guests.  

Wayne Gallo, Chef

Our British chef, Wayne Gallo, began his career in the restaurant business in the U.K., then moved on to study in South Africa and the Caribbean. He excels in preparing tasty meals that adhere to special dietary requirements from gluten free, dairy free, vegetarian, vegan, pescetarian, and food allergies. His cuisine includes French, Indian, Caribbean, Asian, Turkish, and Italian selections as well as all types of sushi preparation. Wayne strikes the right balance between mouth-watering and exceptionally healthy dishes, with each presentation being picture perfect! 

Chloe Densham, Chief Stewardess

Chloe, originally from South Africa, is a 10 year veteran in the yachting industry and her years of experience are evident throughout M/Y Sunshine. Both her non-stop energy and her attention to detail are apparent in the pristine interiors of the yacht and the overall glow that radiates from every stateroom and salon. Under Chloe’s direction of the interior staff, guests feel like royalty as their needs are anticipated and their preferences immediately noted. Her formal training in children’s education insures that even the smallest guests enjoy their stay. Chloe’s genuine, warm personality and sincere smile set the tone for the elegant level of services guests receive.  

Sarah-Leigh Biggs, 2nd Stewardess/Masseuse/Beauty Expert

Elegance, Beauty, Grace. Feel your absolute best after scheduling some time with our masseuse and beauty expert! Sara completed her degree at the prestigious Janelle College of Beauty Therapy in South Africa and, in addition to massages, can offer guests manicures (including gel and schellac), pedicures, nail art, facials, waxing and reflexology. Choose from Swedish Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Indian Head Massage or Kahuna Massage either on the Sky Lounge Deck or on a secluded beach under a shaded cabana. Sara will transform you with her magic hands and gentle touch.   

Ebony Norris, 3rd Stewardess, Deck Hand, Dive Instructor, Barista

Ebony, an exceptionally versatile Sunshine crew member, hails from Melbourne, Australia. She became a PADI Open Water Dive Instructor at 19 and spent 6 years working on boats cruising the Great Barrier Reef. Guests will enjoy Ebony’s classic charisma as they participate in every water activity with her. Ebony is in her element when diving and divers of every skill level will appreciate her calm nature and confidence knowing they are with a true professional. Ebony’s work ethic and her smile are non-stop, whether she is impeccably grooming the deck, helping with table service, interacting with guests and water sports, or making you the best coffee drinks you have ever enjoyed.  

Daniel Lightley, Chief Engineer

Daniel was born and raised in a coastal South African town and has spent his whole life on boats and in the water. During the $2.5MM 2014 refit of M/Y Sunshine he repaired or replaced nearly everything that moves! Daniel takes exceptional pride in his engine room and encourages guests to come take a look at his pristine environment. Questions about operations, especially from youngsters, are always welcome and Dan’s confident answers provide a sense of security for guests that nothing will go wrong while Dan is in control. Guests will enjoy his quiet sense of humor during diving or fishing expeditions.
